Potato Lovers Month

on Saturday, 01 February 2020. Posted in Blog & News

February is one of the most important months of the year if you ask us…it’s POTATO LOVERS MONTH! Back in 1987, Governor Gardener signed a declaration making February Potato Lovers Month. There are a ton of great things about potatoes…just to list a few:

  • In Washington, the potato industry is responsible for creating nearly 36,000 jobs and contributes $7.4 billion dollars to the economy.
  • Washington Potato Growers provide more that 30 billion servings of potatoes to people around the world.
  • Potatoes are full of important vitamins and minerals including potassium, Vitamin C, fiber and protein.
  • 99% of all Washington’s potato farms are family farms

Clearly, there’s a lot to celebrate when it comes to potatoes. Their affordability and versatility make potatoes the most popular vegetables in the world! We hope you take a little time this month to spread some spud love to your family and friends!
