2022 CENSUS OF AGRICULTURE RELEASED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

On February 13, 2024, the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released the results of the 2022 Census of Agriculture providing statistical data about American agriculture operations down to U.S. county levels. This statistical data is a valuable tool to provide insight into American agriculture's demographics, economics, land use, and activities. A key point taken from the census was that there is a total decline in U.S. Farms, but a rise in the number of new operations and a rise in the number of new producers under the age of 35. There was a 61% response rate to the 2022 Census of Agriculture with more than 40% of those responses online.
