KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN (KFC) GLOBALLY EXCEEDS 30K RESTAURANTS
KFC reached a milestone by surpassing 30,000 restaurants globally which equates to a new location opening its doors every 3.5 hours on average. This is good news for potato growers as KFC uses both frozen and dehydrated potato products in their menu items. Plus, those locations in Asia carry potato products primarily from the Pacific Northwest.
The doors opened to KFC’s 30,000th store in Rome, Italy today. KFC creates menus that resonate with the community’s local flavors and culture. They also serve the communities where they are in by operating food donation and upskilling programs. After opening this restaurant in Rome, master franchisee COB S.R.L. has a plan to open 25 additional restaurants in Italy to surpass 100 total restaurants by later this year. Fifteen publicly traded franchisees account for 80% of the KFC restaurant growth, and KFC’s parent company Yum Brands attributes nearly 50% of their divisional operating growth to their KFC accounts.
