PLANT DIAGNOSTIC CLINIC AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY (WSU), PULLMAN IS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST WITH POTATO PLANT PEST AND VIRUS DIAGNOSIS
The Plant Diagnostic Clinic at WSU is available to assist with diagnosis of potato plant pests and viruses. Plant pest diagnostics available through the clinic include visual and microscopic identification, pathogen culturing, and immunological and PCR assays.
Diagnostic testing is performed by Cassandra Bates, WSU Plant Pathology Department Diagnostician and Manager of the Plant Pest Diagnostic Clinic. Her unique qualifications for the position include a Master of Science in Entomology/Nematology from Michigan State University with an emphasis in biological control of plant parasitic nematodes in potatoes, wheat and soybeans. After graduation, she held the position of Education Coordinator for the North Central Plant Diagnostic Network and managed various research programs including research on Potato Cyst Nematode in Idaho tickborne pathogens in cattle.
