NEW RNA-BASED CONTROL FOR COLORADO POTATO BEETLE AVAILABLE IN WA
A novel insecticide for the control of Colorado Potato Beetle (CPB) just became available in Washington. This new insecticide features an active ingredient known as ledprona that represents a first-of-its-kind mode of action (IRAC 35) based on RNA that interferes specifically with the production of an essential protein that CPB produces. Ledprona degrades in the environment in a relatively short time, is target specific and does not impact beneficials. It is undetectable in tubers. This insecticide, Calantha, is from Greenlight Biosciences, is a key-word Caution material, and features a 4-hour re-entry interval and no pre-harvest interval.
