WHITE POTATOES ARE NOW PERMANENTLY WIC ELIGIBLE!

0.0/5 rating (0 votes)

In the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) final rule on the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), white potatoes were permanently removed as an excluded vegetable as summarized within the 2022 proposed rule. A copy of the final rule has been submitted to the Office of the Federal Register (OFR) for publication and is subject to further edits. Upon publication, this version will be replaced by the published rule and will take effect 60 days after OFR publishes it in the Federal Register. WIC has been improving the health and developmental outcomes for women, children and infants through their evidence based public health program. It has been an effective tool to reduce maternal and child health outcomes by providing WIC food packages, nutrition and breastfeeding education.
