L&I OUTDOOR HEAT EXPOSURE RULES SEMINAR

0.0/5 rating (0 votes)

On July 17, 2023, the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) updated the regulations for Outdoor Heat Exposures, specifically revising WAC 296-62-095 and 296-307-097. L&I strongly advises employers to equip their workers for elevated temperatures by means of strategic planning, comprehensive training, and other precautionary measures. Failing to adequately prepare employees for outdoor heat could lead to an escalated risk of heat-related ailments such as heat exhaustion and potentially fatal heat stroke. Given the intricate nature of these L&I regulations, potato growers must grasp the implications of noncompliance. On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the Washington State Potato Commission is organizing a seminar tailored to potato growers. The event will feature a special presentation by Sean Worley from Stokes Lawrence P.S., a seasoned expert in labor and employment matters, known for representing both private and municipal employers before state and federal agencies in various L&I cases. Sean, who previously served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney at the Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, has a background in Corporate Counsel, District Court, and Special Assault Units. With over six years of experience assisting clients in labor and employment affairs, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. This hour-long session will commence at 11:00 am at the Washington State Potato Commission office. Additionally, a Zoom link will be made available for potato growers unable to attend in person. As space is limited, prompt registration is recommended. Following the program, lunch will be provided for attendees.
