Welcome to the Washington State Potato Commission, where tradition meets innovation in the heart of America's potato country. Our commitment to generational farming ensures that every potato you enjoy is cultivated with the expertise and passion passed down through generations. Our growers believe that the key to producing the finest potatoes lies in our deep-rooted connection to the land and the wisdom inherited from our ancestors

The Heart of Generational Farming
Generational farming is more than a tradition; it’s our way of life. For decades, our family farms have been dedicated to growing high-quality potatoes. Each generation brings fresh ideas and techniques while respecting the proven methods of their predecessors. This seamless blend of old and new enables us to maintain the highest standards in potato growing, ensuring that every bite is as delicious and nutritious as nature intended.
Sustainable Practices for a Brighter Future
Our commitment to generational farming goes hand in hand with our dedication to sustainability. By implementing environmentally friendly practices, we ensure the land remains fertile and productive for future generations. Crop rotation, organic fertilizers, and water conservation are just a few of the methods we use to protect our environment. Our sustainable practices not only preserve the land but also produce healthier, tastier potatoes for you and your family.

“My feeling is that there’s a spot for generational farms because the smaller growers usually have little bit better quality, and that’s something hard to make up for. Quality’s a big issue. We’re building a farm that we can hope to pass down to the next generation. There’s a lot of history in a generational farm. Their grandparents broke that ground out of sagebrush. Once that farm sells, it’ll never get a shot of going back to that family, you know, and there’s a lot of history in that, you know, and it’s just a tough one to give up”

“My dad was an electrician by trade, then he got the opportunity to get started farming, and then was able to pass that onto me, and we’ve taken it my wife and I and expanded it past what it ever was. And, you know, we wanna keep doing that if it’s their fit for the kids, and we wanna push them to go that direction. If they wanna do something different, then that’s their decision. I love being a grower. Just waking up and loving what you’re doing and wanting to care on for the next generation.”
