WSPC COMMISSIONERS MAKE A FALL TRIP TO WA DC

Commissioners and staff traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with the Washington State delegation this November. The group discussed the lack of an active trade agenda and how it has nefariously impacted marketing conditions for potatoes in Washington State. Beyond the current poor state of the potato economy in the State, the group discussed the need to continue funding potato breading research, encumbrances to port facilities, the dire need to fund the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program, and continued trade irritants including challenges exporting fresh and chipping potatoes to Taiwan and Mexico.
