The Washington State Potato Foundation (WSPF) is now accepting applications for its Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship Program for the 2026–27 school year. This opportunity is designed to support students from potato growing regions who are pursuing careers in agriculture.

Established in 2000, WSPF has awarded more than 500 students and over $500,000 in scholarships to help farm families and agriculture connected students advance their education. The Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship is open to college and trade school students from Washington and Oregon potato-growing regions. Each year, the program awards $1,000 to $5,000 scholarships to up to 20 students.

Applicants are evaluated by an independent selection committee administered by WSPF. Top candidates may be eligible for recurring scholarships, while single-year recipients may reapply in future years with a new application and updated references.

WSPF is looking for students who demonstrate strong academic or trade performance, meaningful involvement in agriculture or their community, and a clear interest in pursuing an agriculture-related major. Preference is given to students from farm families, those currently working in agriculture related businesses, and especially those with direct ties to the potato or row crop industry. Applicants should also show a desire to return their skills to an agriculture related career within the Columbia Basin.
