WSDA LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE

As part of the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) Focus on Food Initiative, WSDA is offering Local Food System Infrastructure (LFSI) grants. Applications are now open under two categories, Equipment Plus and Large Project. Each of the grant categories has different funding amounts and timelines. To learn more about the two categories and application process go here.
LFSI grants support local food supply chains, expand and strengthen collaboration across Washington’s regional food supply chain, and supports market access for farms, ranches, food processors, and food distributors. Ongoing state funding has been approved by the Washington State Legislature to provide local food system infrastructure, market access grants, and technical assistance.
Farmers, ranchers, food businesses, and non-profit tribal and government organizations that aggregate, process, manufacture, transport, store, or sell foods grown, caught, or raised in Washington for local markets are eligible to apply. Grants will be awarded based on the alignment of the proposed project to the purpose of the grant in conjunction with the achievability of completion within the grant period. Funding available from LFSI grants range from $15,000.00 to $750,000.00 and can be used for equipment and or facilities supporting post-harvest handling, distribution, processing, manufacturing, storing, and the sale of Washington raised, grown, or caught foods.
