WASHINGTON STATE L&I ALERTS GROWERS TO CHECK VALIDITY OF FARM LABOR CONTRACTORS
0.0/5 rating (0 votes)

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) is advising growers to be on alert for fake farm labor contractors and verify they are only using licensed labor contractors. L&I issues licenses annually to Farm Labor Contractors (FLC) that are valid from January to December and the licenses can be renewed annually. Currently, there are more than 250 licensed FLC’s in Washington state and checking a FLC’s status is as easy as going to www.Lni.wa.gov/FLCVerify. FLC’s provide recruitment, employment, and transportation for agricultural workers on behalf of farms, and FLC’s are required to pay workers, supply safe transport, and guarantee they receive meals and breaks. Using an unlicensed FLC can result in up to $1,000.00 fine for both the grower and the unlicensed GLC for each violation.

Questions regarding FLC’s or to report unlicensed farm labor contractors reach out to Washington State Labor and Industries, the state Employment Security Department, or the federal Department of Labor.

Growers who believe they may be working with an unlicensed FLC should contact L&I at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
