USDA ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS TO POTATOES USA’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Eleven members were appointed to Potatoes USA’s Board of Directors by the United States Department of Agriculture. Ten of the appointees, including nine producers and one public member, will serve a three year term expiring February 28, 2028. The final appointee, a producer member, will serve a two year term expiring February 28, 2027. The appointees are as follows:

New Board Members

  • Thomas Baker, Bakersfield, California
  • Andrew J. Price, Center, Colorado
  • Beth Rachut, St. Ansgar, Iowa (two-year term)
  • Diane Szawlowski Mullins, Hatfield, Massachusetts
  • Ben De Jonge, Manhattan, Montana
  • Nathan Bender, Dyer, Nevada

Reappointed Board Members

  • Alison Sklarczyk, Johannesburg, Michigan
  • Pete Ewing, Big Lake, Minnesota
  • Matthew Linehan, Guildhall, Vermont
  • Jennifer Bunger, Pasco, Washington
  • Norbert Bomm, Chicago, Illinois (Public Member)

Candidates are proposed by the industry annually and appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture after a thorough review is conducted. Members of the Potatoes USA Board take part in supporting the potato industry by setting strategic goals and allocating needed resources for marketing, research and education initiatives.
