NEW NATIONAL PROJECT SEEKS GROWERS FOR GROUNDBREAKING SOIL HEALTH STUDY

A new public-private initiative titled “Probing Our Country’s Soil Health” is underway in the United States, aiming to better understand how soil health can inform land management decisions. Organizers are now seeking growers to participate in this innovative effort.
The project will gather soil health data from across the country and compile it into a national resource that can benefit landowners, conservationists, and researchers alike. Participating landowners will contribute to this effort by completing a brief management survey and allowing soil samples to be collected from a few fields.
What Participants Receive:
- Compensation for about one hour of their time.
- A personalized soil health report valued at approximately $1,000 per field, provided at no cost.
- A hard-copy photo book titled “Probing Our Country’s Soil Health”, showcasing soil health findings and images from across the nation.
How to Participate:
- Sign up for a one-hour Zoom session where a facilitator will guide you through a short survey about 2–3 of your fields.
- Provide access to those fields for hand-probe soil sampling at 2–3 locations per field. Sampling typically takes place 3–6 months after the initial survey, and participants will be notified in advance.
