IN 2025 WSDA SEED PROGRAM WILL OVERSEE SOIL SAMPLING AND LATE BLIGHT FIELD INSPECTIONS FOR CERTAIN FRESH POTATO EXPORTS

For certain fresh potato export markets, the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) has reallocated soil sampling and or late blight field inspections to the WSDA Seed Program. The Seed Program already provides these services for other commodities and has appropriate staff numbers to ensure timely completion. Previously, these services were handled by the Plant Protection Division Plant Services Program, and they will train Seed Program Inspectors over the upcoming months.
Impacted customers are invited to attend an industry meeting held on February 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.and or on February 24, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. to walk through the change, meet the Seed Program inspection team, take part in a live demonstration of the field application process, and have questions answered. Meetings can be accessed by the attached QR code.
