Potato growers across Washington State are invited to take part in an important new survey focused on decision support systems for insect pest management. The survey is part of a USDA-NIFA Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI) project involving researchers and Extension educators across several universities, including Washington State University. This initiative aims to improve tools and decision-making support systems that help growers tackle pest challenges more efficiently and sustainably.

Washington State University’s Potato Decision Aid System (WSU-Potato DAS) is at the heart of the project. This digital platform helps growers monitor insect populations, predict pest outbreaks, and select the best pest control options. The survey asks about your pest management practices, familiarity with decision support tools like WSU-Potato DAS, and what improvements would make these tools even more valuable.

By participating, you will help researchers develop more effective, user-friendly systems that better fit the needs of potato growers. Your responses will also guide efforts to expand outreach, improve the WSU-Potato DAS platform, and ensure it delivers measurable value to your operation.

Growers should watch their email and mail for survey invitations over the coming weeks.
