GROWING WITH BIOCHAR: FREE TRAINING EVENT FOR WASHINGTON AND PACIFIC NORTHWEST AGRICULTURE

Agricultural professionals across Washington and the Pacific Northwest are invited to attend Growing with Biochar, a free, full-day training event designed to help participants understand how biochar can be effectively integrated into agricultural systems.

The training will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Washington State University (WSU) Tri-Cities in Richland, Washington. Hosted by the American Biochar Institute and American Farmland Trust, the event is geared toward agricultural professionals, farmers, researchers, conservation specialists, and others who want to learn how to put biochar into practice but are unsure where to begin.

Participants will receive practical, science-based guidance on incorporating biochar into farming operations while connecting with experienced practitioners and a growing network of professionals working to advance biochar adoption throughout the region.

The training will feature presentations from leading researchers, biochar producers, agricultural practitioners, and agency partners who will share the latest research, real-world applications, and implementation strategies. Attendees will also explore Washington-specific and regional biochar initiatives, research updates, and resources presented by state and regional experts.

In addition, the program will provide information on available cost-share opportunities and policy incentives, including NRCS Practice 366, helping participants better understand financial support available for biochar implementation.

Whether you advise farmers, manage agricultural land, develop sustainability initiatives, conduct research, or help shape agricultural policy, this training offers valuable tools, practical knowledge, and networking opportunities to support successful biochar integration.

Participants can build lasting professional connections and become part of a community of practice dedicated to expanding biochar outreach and implementation across the Pacific Northwest.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for eligible participants. Registration is required, and seating is limited.
