AMERICAN SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION CIRCULATING LETTER PETITION ON EPA’S DRAFT INSECTICIDE STRATEGY
The American Soybean Association is circulating a letter petition to raise concerns regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Draft Insecticide Strategy (IS). Growers, producers, and applicators are encouraged to sign the petition by Saturday, September 21, 2024 by 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to help voice their concerns with the EPA IS draft.
EPA’s intent is to utilize the draft to place mitigation measures on runoff, erosion, spray drifts, and on-field application in critical habitats to bring EPA’s pesticide program into compliance with the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
Concerns raised in the petition to EPA include:
- The complexity of the draft IS,
- Costly price tag for producers, and
- Likelihood that significant crop areas will be left untreated and vulnerable to pest.
Please read the IS petition letter in its entirety here.
Go here by Saturday, September 21, 2024 by 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to electronically sign the petition letter. Only petition signer’s name, city and state will be included in the letter.
