Washington potato growers are invited to attend the 44th Annual Western Washington Potato Workshop on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., hosted in person at WSU’s Northwestern Washington Research & Extension Center (NWREC) in Mount Vernon, Washington.

This long-standing annual event brings together researchers, industry experts, and growers for a full day of timely updates on potato production, pest management, water resources, and emerging research impacting Western Washington agriculture. The workshop will feature presentations from Washington State University faculty, industry specialists, and agency partners, covering topics directly relevant to potato production in the region. Highlights include:

  • Updates from WSU NWREC and the Washington State Potato Commission
  • Impacts of potential neonicotinoid regulations on potato pest management
  • Water rights and irrigation considerations for Washington growers
  • Soil health, moisture management, and irrigation requirements
  • Potato variety trials and production economics
  • Disease management updates, including black dot and emerging concerns
  • The role of biologicals in potato disease management
  • Current research from WSU’s berry and potato pathology programs

Presenters include experts from WSU, the Washington State Potato Commission, Washington State Department of Ecology, and regional Extension programs, offering a well-rounded program grounded in research and practical application.

A “Meat & Potatoes” lunch will be provided, and an application has been submitted for 4 WSDA pesticide recertification credits.

Networking Opportunity

Following the workshop, attendees are invited to a Social Hour at Shawn O’Donnell’s, offering an opportunity to connect with colleagues, speakers, and industry partners in an informal setting.
