On Saturday, July 12, the Washington State Potato Commission was proud to once again support the legendary Seattle to Portland (STP) bike ride by serving up thousands of fresh, hot French fries to hungry cyclists at the Centralia halfway point!

More than 6,000 riders took on the 207-mile challenge, with some powering through in a single day and others camping overnight. We were thrilled to hand out approximately 1,800 generous portions of fries before running out around 4 pm!  Talk about demand for carbs!

Among the cyclists was our very own Executive Director, Chris Voigt, along with other Team Potato riders, proudly sporting their bright, conversation-starting jerseys. Since 2018, our partnership with Cascade Bicycle Club has helped us pedal the message far and wide that potatoes are a powerhouse for athletes and perfect for long-distance endurance events like STP.

We’re always energized by the excitement of the event and honored to share a delicious taste of Washington potatoes with riders pushing their limits. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!
