USDA RELEASES STATISTICS ON 2024 POTATO STOCK IN NORTHWEST REGION OF U.S.

On December 18, 2024, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agriculture Statistics Service released statistics on 2024 potato stock for Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. On December 1, 2024, potato stock for the Northwest region including Washington, Oregon, and Idaho totaled approximately 175 million hundredweight.

Potatoes held in storage nationally as of December 1, 2024 totaled 276 million CWT which was down 4% from December 1, 2023. Stored potatoes accounted for 66% of potato production in 2024 up 1% from the year before. Indicated season to date disappearance was down 8% from the prior year to 142 million CWT.
