The Potato Variety Management Institute (PVMI) held its Annual Meeting on November 12, 2025 in Portland, Oregon. Board members from the Tri-State region gathered to approve annual financial distributions to universities and discuss ongoing research priorities.

Discussions focused on enhancing research resources at universities and exploring new technologies to accelerate the development of potato varieties that meet the needs of consumers, growers, and processors. The three state potato commissions, Washington State Potato Commission, Oregon State Potato Commission, and the Idaho State Potato Commission, continue to work closely with university and USDA researchers to address key challenges in variety development, aiming to produce the next generation of potatoes with improved disease resistance, reduced water and nitrogen usage requirements, high yields, and excellent quality.
