FIFTH GRADERS AND FRIES AT THE BENTON FRANKLIN COUNTY FARM FAIR

More than 700  fifth-grade students from nine local schools gathered at the Benton Franklin County Fairgrounds on Thursday and Friday for the Benton Franklin County Farm Fair. The event brought agriculture to life through hands-on learning experiences designed to connect students with the farms and farmers that help feed their communities.

The Washington State Potato Commission (WSPC), alongside other agriculture industry leaders, partnered with Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to lead interactive stations and share insights about Washington agriculture. WSPC staff highlighted the potato growing cycle, the nutritional benefits of potatoes, and the vital role the potato industry plays in the state’s economy.

Students were engaged, curious, and excited to learn, especially when it came time to enjoy fresh, hot Washington-grown fries.
