USDA OFFERING WHOLE FARM REVENUE PROTECTION AND MICRO FARM INSURANCE OPTIONS VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS
To keep agricultural producers and stakeholders informed, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced dates for “Road Show” virtual workshops to discuss updates and improvements to the Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) and the Micro Farm insurance options. For risk management, USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) finds that these two options are the most comprehensive available and are especially important to organic, specialty crop, urban, and direct market producers. RMA is looking to increase producer participation in crop insurance by the virtual workshops discussing policy improvements and updates. The policy has been improved by doubling the maximum insurable revenue under WFRP, tripling the size of eligible farm operations for Micro Farm to $350,000 in approved revenue, and reducing WFRP requirements. They are also planning on hosting in person events later this year.
“Road Show” Virtual Workshops via Microsoft Teams and no RSVP is necessary.
