THE POTATO VARIETY MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE WELCOMES JENNY DURRIN AS THE NEW PVMI DIRECTOR STARTING OCTOBER 3RD

The Potato Variety Management Institute (PVMI) is pleased to announce that Jenny Durrin will become its next Executive Director starting October 3, 2022. Currently, Ms. Durrin is the Director of the University of Idaho Seed Potato Germplasm program. Dr. Jeanne Debons, our current PVMI Director, has been in the role of Executive Director since the organization’s inception in 2005 and will retire in early 2023. Ms. Durrin and Dr. Jeanne Debons will work together for three months to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

As a non-profit organization, PVMI promotes and markets Tri-State potato varieties and manages licensing and royalty collections. Developed as a grower-controlled alternative to the universities’ efforts to manage varieties and interact with the industry in royalty collection, the royalties collected are returned to the Tri-State Potato Breeding Program, a coalition of potato breeders and researchers from Washington State University, Oregon State University, the University of Idaho, and the USDA Agricultural Research Service in the tri-state region. More information about PVMI can be found here.
