POTATOES DROP TO #4 IN THE STATE DUE TO PANDEMIC

Potatoes dropped to #4 of the top 5 commodities produced in Washington for 2020. According to NASS, apples remained the state's top agricultural commodity with a value of $2 billion for 2020. 

Milk stayed at #2 with a value of $1.9 billion for 2020, down 7% from the previous year. Wheat moved up to #3 with a production value of $949 million for 2020, up 20% from 2019. With a value of $753 million for 2020, potatoes  dropped to #4, down 19% from 2019.

Within the top 10 commodities, blueberry production value hit $214 million, up 40% from 2019. Sweet cherries production value was up 43% from 2019 to $562 million in 2020. Canola value increased for the 5th year in a row to $40 million. Other commodities that decreased in production value included onions, hops, grapes, and cattle and calves.
