Are potatoes healthy? YES! Potatoes have proven to be one of America’s most versatile vegetables with remarkable nutritional value. If you take a closer look you’ll find that potatoes are packed with fiber, potassium, protein, vitamin C, antioxidants and more! Another big health bonus for this versatile vegetable is the fact that they contain no fat, cholesterol, saturated fat, trans fat, or sodium. Potatoes are also gluten-free and contain more potassium than a banana. Now, this next fact is really going to get you excited! According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture French Fries can be a part of a well-balanced diet when eaten in moderation. When the potatoes are fried, they keep all their key nutrients. The bottom line here is that what you put on top of your potato, is what controls the health of your spud. Naturally, potatoes are very good for you and have many health benefits. Researchers and national health organizations have come together and agreed that potatoes can be apart of a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages and people with diabetes.
