WENDY POWERS IS INAUGURAL CASHUP DAVIS FAMILY ENDOWED DEAN OF WSU COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL, HUMAN AND NATURAL RESOURCES.

On August 15, 2022, Washington State University (WSU) welcomed Wendy Powers as the inaugural Cashup Davis Family Endowed Dean of the WSU College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resources. Joining WSU from the University of California, Powers brings a wealth of knowledge in leading research, academic and outreach programs from her role as the Associate Vice President for the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In this role, she developed partnerships across California and within the university that oversaw county based cooperative extension outreach programs including twelve statewide programs and institutes and nine research and extension centers.

Powers experience fits well with the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). Through sharing WSU research and discovery, CAHNRS has developed a large state presence serving all thirty-nine counties and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. On Power’s second day in the role, Washington State Potato Commission Research Committee Chair Grant Morris, Executive Director Chris Voigt, and Director of Industry Outreach Matthew Blua had the pleasure of meeting with Powers and introducing her to the Washington potato industry. During this meeting, they discussed the Commission’s research success and future needs in the industry.
