Matthew Harris

Director of Government Affairs & Assistant Executive Director

Matthew serves as the Assistant Executive Director and Director of Governmental Affairs for the Washington State Potato Commission. In his role, Matthew focuses on overcoming technical and policy obstacles to maintain a fair regulatory environment for the Washington potato industry. His responsibilities include advocating against unfair market access barriers, working to remove impediments affecting the sale and use of Washington potatoes in various markets, and educating stakeholders about the impacts of trade, transportation, and regulatory issues. With twenty-eight years of experience in regulatory compliance within the food and agriculture sector, Mr. Harris brings extensive expertise to his role. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Washington State University.
